12/30/2008—Maryland Wing DDR program on parade
The Maryland Wing Drug Demand Reduction (DDR) staff participated in two holiday parades located in Denton and Ridgely, Md., during the month of December. Civil Air Patrol was represented with a float pulled by the National Headquarters DDR truck.
12/19/2008—St. Mary's cadet receives appointment to U.S. Air Force Academy
Cadet 2nd Lt. Stephen Gast has received an appointment to the U. S. Air Force Academy, Class of 2012. He is a member of the St. Mary’s Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wing.
12/16/2008—Maryland Wing cadet appointed to Maryland Youth Advisory Council
Cadet Senior Master Sgt. Joseph Aryankalayil will serve on the Maryland Youth Advisory Council, following an appointment by Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, state Senate president, and the speaker of the House of Delegates.
12/08/2008—Parris assumes command of Group II
Maj. William Parris assumed command of Group II of the Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wing during a ceremony held this past weekend at Wing headquarters. Parris accepted the group flag in the traditional ceremony as Lt. Col. Christian Ready relinquished the command he held for three years.
12/04/2008—Carroll Composite Squadron receives $7,800 grant from UPS
The Carroll Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wing was recently awarded a $7,800 grant from the United Parcel Service (UPS) Foundation to upgrade the squadron’s communications capabilities.
12/01/2008—Hagerstown takes second place in Mummers Parade
Members from the Hagerstown Composite Squadron, Maryland Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, participated in the annual Hagerstown Mummers Parade with a float and a marching unit. The squadron took second place during the parade competition.
11/21/2008—Maryland Wing participates in cross country race and exposition
Members of the Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol Recruiting and Retention Office, Cadet Advisory Council, Color Guard, and Drug Demand Reduction Offices recently participated in the Baltimore Crossroads@95 5K Cross-Country Challenge Race and Exposition in White Marsh, Md.
11/16/2008—Maryland Wing hosts PAO Academy
More than 30 Civil Air Patrol members gathered at Maryland Wing headquarters this past weekend for the first Public Affairs Officer Academy. Participants included unit public affairs officers (PAO), squadron commanders, cadet PAO staff, drug demand reduction officers, and others interested in the responsibilities of a Civil Air Patrol PAO.
11/07/2008—Mt. Airy brothers receive Mitchell Awards
Cadets Kyle and Trevor Flanick of the Mt. Airy Composite Squadron in the Maryland Wing of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), received their General Billy Mitchell Awards recently at the Mt. Airy Senior and Community Center during a promotion and change of command ceremony.
10/31/2008—Cadet Change of Command at College Park
The College Park Composite Squadron recently received a new cadet commander as Cadet Chief Master Sgt. Orville Saunders, Jr., assumed command from Cadet Chief Master Sgt. Lena Johnson during a ceremony at the College Park Airport.
10/28/2008—Osprey squadron hits the streets of Essex
Members from the Osprey Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wing recently hit the streets to participate in their quarterly “Eastern Avenue Street Clean-up”. The Osprey Squadron has been cleaning Eastern Avenue for three years now as part of the “Adopt-a-Highway” program, sponsored by the State Highway Administration.
10/20/2008—Maryland members gather in Solomons for Annual Conference and Military Ball
More than 200 people gathered at the Holiday Inn Select in Solomons, Md., this past weekend for training and recognition at the annual Maryland Wing conference and military ball, hosted by Col. Jerry Weiss, Maryland Wing commander. With 23 training courses, a full-day cadet conference, cadet ball, and special all-day Sunday courses, there was something for everyone.

The Osprey Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol recently held a cadet change of command ceremony where Cadet Maj. Wayne Mowery, Jr., handed the torch of leadership to Cadet Chief Master Sgt. Shaharazad Purvis, incoming cadet commander.

Glenn L. Martin Composite Squadron recently toured the Potomac Consolidated TRACON facility near Warrenton, Va. The visit was coordinated by CAP senior officer Alan F. Gaines and TRACON Operations Manager Bill Carver.
09/22/2008—Maryland cadet earns AFA Aerospace Cadet of the Year
Civil Air Patrol cadet Lt. Col. David M. Trick of Maryland Wing's St. Mary's Composite Squadron was awarded the Air Force Association's CAP Aerospace Education Cadet of the Year Award during the recent Air & Space Conference and Technology Exposition.
09/19/2008—Cadet change of command at Bowie squadron
The Bowie Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wing is welcoming a new cadet commander. Outgoing leader Cadet Capt. Erich Welch turned over the job to Cadet 1st Lt. Beau Bustanoby in a recent change-of-command ceremony.

Members of the Towson and Osprey Composite Squadrons joined the Maryland Wing Drug Demand Reduction program at the Maryland State Fair, where they reached over 1,000 visitors.
09/11/2008—Thom assumes command of Wicomico
Maj. Kenneth S. Thom, CAP, recently assumed command of the Wicomico Composite Squadron, part of Group II of the Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wing, during ceremony held at the Salisbury-Ocean City-Wicomico Regional Airport.
09/07/2008—Maryland Wing conference in just six weeks
Each fall members of the Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wing gather for a weekend of training and recognition. This year's annual conference and military ball will be held on October 17-19, 2008, at the Holiday Inn Select in Solomons, Md.
09/05/2008—Maryland Wing braces for Tropical Storm Hanna
With the approach of Tropical Storm Hanna, the Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wing is making preparations to assist should there be a need. Ground teams are prepping their gear, while aircraft and vehicles are being readied, and all stand by for the call.
09/03/2008—Ground team training at Kings Landing Park
Current and aspiring ground team members met recently for a Group III training session. Cadets and officers from the St. Mary's, Bowie and Arundel Composite squadrons participated in the event at Kings Landing Park in Huntingtown, Md. The classes, offered in small group sessions, included the basic communication user training (BCUT) course and ground team training for levels one, two and three.

Retired Indian Air Force Air Commodore Parvez Khokhar shared his experiences with the St. Mary’s Composite Squadron in California, Md., during a recent visit.
08/27/2008—Operation Purple Haze Emergency Preparedness Exercise
Civil Air Patrol members along with other volunteer groups and first responders served as mock victims of a terrorist attack in an emergency management exercise held by the Baltimore Ravens, the City of Baltimore and the State of Maryland.
08/22/2008—Brig Gen Morgan retires from Md Air National Guard
Brig. Gen. Charles A. Morgan III, Assistant Adjutant General for Air, retired this past weekend in a ceremony held at Warfield Air National Guard Base in Middle River, Md. The Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol was proud to be a part of the event.
08/20/2008—Four cadets solo during annual Wing academy
Four Civil Air Patrol cadets soloed for the first time over the skies of Hagerstown recently. This event was the culmination of their training and study. The cadets, from all around Maryland Wing, participated in the Maryland Wing Solo School, a unique program now in its 18th year.
08/19/2008—Novitzki assumes command of Upper Montgomery
Maj. James Novitzki assumed command of the Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol's Upper Montgomery Composite Squadron recently at a traditional change-of-command ceremony in Gaithersburg, Md., presided over by Lt. Col. Eric Haertel, Group 1 commander.
08/18/2008—Ft. McHenry cadet graduates Cadet Officer School
Cadet 2nd Lt. Laura Boehk recently graduated from Civil Air Patrol's Cadet Officer School (COS), held at Huntington College, Alabama. COS is patterned after the U.S. Air Force Squadron Officer School offering an academically challenging, in-depth study of the skills of leadership.
08/15/2008—Critical Incident Stress Management course taught at Maryland Wing
Maryland Wing held a Critical Incident Stress Management training recently at MDWG Headquarters. "Graduates of this course will constitute a peer-to-peer emotional support group for CAP members during missions,” said Maj. George Murray, acting MDWG CISM Coordinator.
08/13/2008—St. Mary's cadet earns Frank G. Brewer Award
Cadet 1st Lt. Daniel Myers of Maryland Wing’s St. Mary’s Composite Squadron was presented the national Frank G. Brewer Memorial Aerospace Cadet Award during Civil Air Patrol’s national conference this past weekend in Orlando, Fla. The Brewer award is based on outstanding aerospace achievement or contributions to the aerospace field.
08/11/2008—Maryland teen named CAP National Cadet of the Year
Cadet Colonel Jake Reed has been named the Civil Air Patrol National Cadet of the Year. The eighteen-year-old Carroll Composite Squadron cadet was honored in a ceremony this past weekend at the CAP National Conference in Orlando, Fla. Reed is the first Maryland cadet in more than a decade to receive the prestigious accolade.
08/06/2008—CAP pilot Regen builds and flies his own aircraft
Capt. Michael Regen, of Maryland Wing's Bethesda-Chevy Chase Composite Squadron, spent more than 1,200 hours constructing his experimental amateur built aircraft from a kit. But the greater thrill was the first flight.
08/05/2008—Martin squadron tours Md. Army National Guard Blackhawk facility
Members from Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol’s Glenn L. Martin Composite Squadron recently toured the Maryland Army National Guard helicopter facility at Edgewood Arsenal, an activity that included a flight in a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter.
08/04/2008—Group Two squadrons team up in Dundalk Heritage Festival
Members from the Glenn L. Martin Composite Squadron and Osprey Composite Squadron teamed together to represent Group Two of the Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wing at the Dundalk Heritage Fair, a three-day Fourth of July celebration, increasing public awareness and expanding CAP’s public outreach.

07/22/2008—For CAP cadets, the sky’s the limit at 2008 Maryland Wing Aerospace Academy
In early July, birds taking flight in the skies above Frederick Municipal Airport could be seen sharing their thermals with cadets of the Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wing, as the 12th annual Maryland Wing Aerospace Academy brought glider and tow plane to the forefront for a week of fun and flight. This event, geared toward immersing cadets in CAP’s aerospace education mission, was host to 30 cadet basics (first time attendees) representing nine squadrons from across the state.

Maryland Wing's Howard Composite Squadron participated in the River Hill Association Independence Day Parade earlier this month in Clarksville, Md., with eighteen cadets from the squadron proudly marching along the parade route.
07/16/2008—Towson squadron recognizes members' achievements
The Towson Composite Squadron of the Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol recognized many promotions and significant achievements during a recent squadron meeting held at the Towson Armory in Towson, Md.
07/14/2008—Martin cadet wins flight of a lifetime
Cadet Charles Grebe of the Glenn L. Martin Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol, won an orientation flight with a world-class aerobatic team at the Andrews Air Force Base Friends and Family Air Show. "It was the best day of my life,” said Grebe.
07/11/2008—Maryland Wing Hosts DDR outreach at Healthy Howard Day
Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol, with the aid of the Osprey and Howard Composite Squadrons, hosted a Drug Demand Reduction outreach activity at the first annual Healthy Howard Day. The event included five cadets and one officer from the Osprey Composite Squadron and two officers from the Howard Composite Squadron, who offered their support with just a few days notice to jump start the activity.

Cadets, officers, and friends attended the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Composite Squadron’s dining out celebration recently held at the Normandie Farm Inn in Potomac, Md. The event kicked off with a social hour followed by lunch, awards, and a cadet change of command ceremony.

Members from the Maryland Wing of the Civil Air Patrol represented the wing at the change-of- command ceremony for the Adjutant General for the State of Maryland, held recently at the 5th Regiment Armory in Baltimore Md.
07/03/2008—Easton supports Wings & Wheels show
On Saturday, May 31st, Maryland Wing's Easton Composite Squadron , under the leadership of Capt. Eric Hughes, squadron commander, assisted with the annual Wings & Wheels Show at the Chesapeake Airport. While the cadet members worked the flight line, officers worked the Drug Demand Reduction (DDR) and recruiting booths.
06/30/2008—Tri-Wing Encampment trains 170 cadets
Civil Air Patrol members recently completed the 2008 Tri-Wing Encampment, held June 22-29 at Camp Fretterd Military Reservation in Reisterstown, Md. Hosted by the Maryland, Delaware, and National Capital Wings, nearly 250 staff and cadet basics came from two CAP regions and five CAP wings.

06/06/2008—Easton's Watson presented Spaatz Award
Cadet Col. Janice A. Watson, 20, of Greensboro, was awarded the prestigious General Carl A. Spaatz Award at the Louis G. Smith National Guard Armory, the first member of the Easton Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol to be honored with the citation.
06/04/2008—Carroll squadron marches in Westminster parade
Members of the Carroll Composite Squadron, part of the Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol, continued their annual tradition of marching in the Memorial Day parade in Westminster, Md., the longest continuously running parade in the U.S.
06/02/2008—Osprey cadets win top honors at MER Speak-Off
Three cadets from the Osprey Composite Squadron represented the Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol at the Middle East Region Speak-off, winning first place prizes in the basic and impromptu categories.
05/29/2008—Bowie squadron wins award in Memorial Day Parade
The Bowie Composite Squadron paid tribute to fallen heroes in the City of Bowie's annual Memorial Day parade and took home second place in the best non-profit float category for the squadron's mini-jet, adorned in red, white in blue to look like a CAP airplane.

The Mt. Airy Composite Squadron of the Maryland Wing was recently presented with an award marking their designation as Maryland Wing Squadron of Merit for 2008. Maj. Judith McLellan, squadron commander, accepted the award along with an honorary streamer which was attached to the squadron guidon.

Cadet Chief Master Sgts. Kristen and Victor Santos, of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Composite Squadron (BCC) of the Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol, had the opportunity to describe and highlight the activities of the Civil Air Patrol at an April meeting of the photography committee of the National Press Club.
05/11/2008—Towson supports the community’s drug awareness at festival
The Towson Composite Squadron of the Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol, promoted drug demand reduction (DDR) while successfully recruiting new members at the annual Towson Town Festival in early May. Twenty-three cadets and officers participated in the planning, scheduling and setting up of a display in front of the Maryland National Guard Armory in Towson.
05/07/2008—Brand accepts USAF Academy appointment
Cadet Capt. Daniel Brand of the Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol has accepted an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy Class of 2012. Brand received his appointment from Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.).
05/05/2008—MESSENGER: Trip to Mercury
The Fort McHenry Composite Squadron recently welcomed Mr. Andy Calloway as the guest speaker for Aersospace night. Calloway discussed his work as part of a project team of fifteen scientists that work for the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab in Laurel, Md. The name of the mission that he works on is MESSENGER, standing for MErcury Surface, Space ENvironment, GEochemistry, and Ranging.

04/28/2008—Middle East Region conference honors Maryland Wing members
Maryland Wing members were honored for their accomplishments at the recent Civil Air Patrol Middle East Region (MER) conference, held at the Sheraton West in Richmond, Va. The theme of this year’s conference was “CAP – Connected, Agile, Professional.” Nine members earned 'of the year' awards.
04/25/2008—West Virginia and Maryland Wings Conduct Joint Search and Rescue Exercise with Maryland Army National Guard
The West Virginia and Maryland Wings of the Civil Air Patrol joined forces to conduct a multi service, multi disciplined search and rescue exercise (SAREX) from 18-21 April 2008. Approximately 200 members of both wings operated from Petersburg/Grant County Airport, West Virginia. The exercise scenario involved response to a wide-spread natural disaster which necessitated calling for assistance from an adjacent wing of Civil Air Patrol. 04/24/2008—Weiss accepts command of Penn State AFROTC
Joanna Weiss, a member of the Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol, accepted the position of Wing Commander of the Penn State University Air Force ROTC Detachment 720 during a ceremony held at the university on April 22, 2008. She was promoted to Cadet Colonel during the ceremony that was presided over by Col. David B. Heininger, commander of AFROTC Detachment 720.
04/20/2008—Tri-Wing Encampment staff training weekend held at Camp Fretterd
Over 40 Civil Air Patrol cadets will staff this year's Tri-Wing Encampment, a week-long activity which provides cadets training on the fundamentals of Civil Air Patrol. The staff came together at Camp Fretterd Military Reservation for a training weekend in April.
04/16/2008—Wicomico installs new cadet commander
Cadet 2nd Lt. Jacob Terlizzi was installed as the new cadet commander of the Wicomico Composite Squadron, part of Group II of the Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wing, during a ceremony held at the squadron headquarters in Salisbury, Md.
04/10/2008—Cadets train at Airman Leadership School
Cadet leaders in Maryland Wing's Group III shared the last weekend of March with newer members of Civil Air Patrol who are planning to attend their first Tri-Wing Encampment this summer. The senior cadets talked about their experiences and offered tips for success during the demanding, week-long training event.
04/07/2008—Scholarships awarded to Maryland cadets
Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wing cadets were awarded scholarships recently by Civil Air Patrol National Headquarters and the Spaatz Association. These awards are annually given to CAP cadets and are for either academic or flight pursuits.
04/02/2008—Maryland Wing members to participate in IACE this summer
During the summer of 2008, six Maryland Wing members have been selected to travel to four different countries as part of the International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE) program. Maryland Wing has also been selected as a host Wing for foreign cadets to visit.
03/31/2008—Paper airplane engineering challenge held in Baltimore
Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wing members from the Howard Composite Squadron and Osprey Composite Squadron helped to staff the annual Paper Airplane Engineering Challenge hosted in March at the Baltimore Museum of Industry.
03/27/2008—Maryland Wing continues to support Warfield ANG
Maryland Wing members of the Civil Air Patrol began their fifth consecutive year of service and support to the Maryland Air National Guard (ANG) on Warfield ANG base. As a regular duty assignment, CAP members serve meals at the dining hall to Guard personnel during ANG drill weekends, working side-by-side with 175th Wing Services Flight members.

More than three dozen officers and cadets from Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol Groups II and III turned out for ground team training during March at the Jug Bay Natural Area in Upper Marlboro, Md. Training covered a variety of topics important to members seeking sign-offs for ground team members.

03/18/2008—Blended-wing body UAV discussed at local program
As part of an ongoing series of talks in aerospace technology, Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol members joined the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics for a recent presentation on the Swift KB4, a small tactical unmanned air vehicle, designed to fly 15 hours with 30 lbs of payload.

Thirty members of the Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol recently spent a day on Capitol Hill meeting with members of Congress regarding Civil Air Patrol missions during Legislative Day. The Maryland Wing team was joined by CAP members from around the nation.

The Glenn L. Martin Composite Squadron of the Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol recently held an open house for area pilots and other interested parties at the Martin State Airport, where the squadron headquarters is located. The response was better than the organizers had hoped.
03/05/2008—Osprey cadets dominate Wing Speak Off
Cadets from around the state participated in the recent Cadet Speak Off, an annual speech contest sponsored by the Maryland Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, held at the Wing headquarters in Glen Burnie, Md. Three cadets, all from Osprey Composite Squadron, took the top honors: C/A1C Jimmy Fowose, C/Capt Wayne Mowery, and C/2d Lt. Darius Yancey.
03/03/2008—Boehk appointed cadet commander at Fort McHenry
Cadet 2nd Lt. Laura Boehk has been appointed as the new cadet commander of the Fort McHenry Composite Squadron, a unit in Group II of the Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol. The appointment was announced by Capt. Karen Walker, CAP, commander of the squadron.
02/25/2008—CAP ground teams locate missing aircraft
Civil Air Patrol located the missing A36 Bonanza aircraft three miles northeast of the Cumberland Regional Airport. CAP members from Maryland Wing and West Virginia Wing conducted the search along with the Maryland State Police.
02/22/2008—CAP continues search for missing aircraft
Nearly 200 members of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) and components of the Maryland State Police and Pennsylvania State Police are searching for a single engine aircraft that failed to arrive at its destination last night.
02/21/2008—Group II members train during recent SAREX
Officers and cadets of Maryland Wing's Group II arrived at Martin State Airport to conduct a day-long search and rescue exercise (SAREX). Group I and the Wing Headquarters squadron were represented as well. The exercise incorporated both classroom and field training.
02/17/2008—Towson cadets soar during orientation flights
The Towson Composite Squadron has shown significant growth in the cadet ranks during the past six months with an aggressive focus on orientation flights to introduce new cadets to the thrill of aviation.
02/13/2008—First Professional Development Academy held in Maryland Wing
Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol officers from across the state traveled to Camp Fretterd to experience an intensive weekend of administrative and leadership training. The Professional Development Academy brought together three basic schools in CAP management and leadership: Squadron Leadership School, Corporate Learning Course, and Unit Commander’s Course.
02/11/2008—Herten awarded Maryland Wing flight scholarship
Cadet Captain Matthew Herten, of the St. Mary’s Composite Squadron, has been awarded the Maryland Wing flight scholarship for 2007 by Col. Jerry Weiss, Maryland Wing commander. The annual scholarship is awarded to one or more cadets for flight training leading to an FAA private pilot certificate.
02/08/2008—Cadet leadership development series announced by Wing Cadet Programs
Maj. Joseph Winter, director of cadet programs for Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wing, announced a new leadership training series for all cadets. Leadership Education And Development Series (LEADS) will begin on March 1 and continue over the remainder of the year at Wing Headquarters in Glen Burnie, Md.
02/06/2008—Reed named Maryland Wing Public Affairs Officer
Capt. Brenda Reed, of Westminster, Md., has been selected as the Public Affairs Officer for the Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol where she will be responsible for media relations. Reed previously served four years as the public affairs officer for the Carroll Composite Squadron.
02/04/2008—Group III CAC Hosts Cadet Staff Training Leadership School
Cadets from squadrons in Bowie, Annapolis, College Park, Prince Frederick and St. Mary's met this during a weekend in January to share and hone their leadership and communication skills during a cadet leadership training course sponsored by the Group III Cadet Advisory Council.

Seven members of the Howard Composite Squadron received promotions or an award during the squadron’s closing formation at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab in January.
01/24/2008—Capt. Philip Szczepanski, Maryland Wing Public Affairs Officer, passes away
Capt. Philip Szczepanski, the Maryland Wing Public Affairs Officer, passed away on January 23, 2008, after a short hospitalization. He was 68 years old. He had been a member of the Maryland Wing since 2002.
01/21/2008—Team of graduate students develop air search and rescue planning tool for CAP
A team of software engineering graduate students at the University of Maryland University College have developed an air search and rescue planning tool as a web application. The tool was designed specifically for the Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wing.
01/16/2008—Group II Cadet Advisory Council elects new leadership
The Group II Cadet Advisory Council held its annual elections recently held at the Martin State Airport, electing Cadet 2nd Lt. Brandon Brooks, of the Carroll Composite Squadron, to the position of chair. The council, part of the Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol, works to advocate the interests of cadets from Group II, which stretches from Carroll County to the Eastern shore of Maryland.
01/10/2008—Group III conducts cadet training, orientation flights
Squadrons from Group III of the Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol joined together in December to hold a training day - flight marshaling, ground team training, and orientation flights were part of the day. The event was hosted by the St. Mary's Composite Squadron in southern Maryland.
01/07/2008—CAP is Parkland Middle School's "Partner of the Month"
Civil Air Patrol was highlighted as the "Partner of the Month" at the Parkland Magnet Middle School in Rockville, Md., home of Maryland Wing's newest squadron. Special guest Gus McLeod, aerospace adventurer and CAP member, spoke to the students during a special assembly.
01/04/2008—Former CAP National Commander Brig Gen William M. Patterson returns to the homeland skies over Maryland
Brig. Gen. William M. Patterson, CAP, former CAP National Commander and former Maryland Wing commander returned to the homeland skies over Maryland for his first flight in a CAP Cessna 182 equipped with the new Garmin G-1000 Glass Cockpit. Patterson accompanied mission pilot 1st Lt Martin Sacks, CAP, of Maryland Wing’s Fort McHenry Composite Squadron.
