Aerospace Education Events and Opportunities

Here's a schedule of potentially interesting aerospace education events and opportunities from around the region. The fare offered here is intended to be of broader scope than just what our wing is doing, and any listing suggestions are quite welcome. For Civil Air Patrol activities I'll show a MD Wing POC, but for others you are on your own.

Robert Terry, Lt Col, CAP

Ass't A7A Director of Aerospace Education (DAE)
Maryland Wing

You can join the merry band of "Moon Rock Wranglers" in the Maryland Wing!  We'll also add Meteorite Loan Program training!  See the current Announcement here.

The Lunar Sample loan program allows qualified individuals to check out a true Lunar sample for exhibit to a specified group over a specified time interval. The training is focused on both the discussion of lunar samples' geology and mineralogy as well as the transport and security protocols. NASA only allows certified educators to borrow lunar samples, and Goddard Space Flight Center has been persuaded that CAP Aerospace Education Officers are worthy of the responsibilities of handling the samples. Each sample comes with a full explanation of what's in it and a little briefing book so you can chat about it.

Once an AEO is certified, the samples can be mailed to them anywhere in the country for use in squadrons or at higher level AE events. Showing kids and adults a real piece of the Moon is usually an exciting event, and can be a truly memorable experience for young and old alike.

Martin Maryland Aviation Museum, the EAA, and Maryland Wing are continuing efforts to refurbish space for the future Aerospace Education Center in the Lockheed Martin Corporation Facility at 103 Chesapeake Park Plaza, Middle River, MD. This location is very close to Glenn L Martin and Osprey Squadrons.
